Commercials
Sometimes music is used to not only as a backing track to enhance a message…it is the message… and actually the heartbeat of the commercial’s concept.
Of course traditionally jingles often take this role, but amongst these examples there are occasions where there is no singing involved at all, just spoken word or sound effects taking direction from the backing track. It dictates metre in some cases, and more often than not, style, dynamics or the story. That’s the beauty of music… it’s so flexible and has so many facets…it can be a piece of theatre all by itself!
