It seems only yesterday that PowerPoint liberated the business presentation from the flip-chart. Yet already, today's trainers are well beyond PP - particularly for distance, multi-point or on-line learning.
They're using inspiring images and fluid, engaging transitions perfectly synchronised with a persuasive soundtrack - in short, presentations of TV programme quality.

That's what Steve Connell of Inspire Talent in Cheltenham was aiming for. Steve had built-up a 60-slide show, including specially-shot video clips, for regular use across one business sector. He had no written script, this being a live presentation, so whilst the upgrade to motion graphics and a fully-mixed soundtrack made total sense, it looked like a daunting job!
No problem. Steve simply e-mailed JMS his presentation slides. We hooked up to a sound-studio near his home, where Steve then did his usual presentation, and we recorded it via ISDN. Inside two hours he was on his way home to a cuppa, and inside a week JMS had produced a 40 minute presentation on DVD, based on Steve’s original materials, with index points where the programme could be paused for group involvement.
So the step up from PowerPoint needn’t always entail huge TV production fees or a massive amount of editorial labour. As Steve commented: “I really must compliment you on an excellent piece of work. It looks great and you have edited it brilliantly”
Thanks Steve. Now could we have the next slide please?
