JMS created the TV commercials, and our 3D ‘Star-ship’ images of the story became the centre-piece of all other poster, flyer and online marketing activity for the show.

In addition this year, we streamed the commercial onto a Hi-tech show microsite specially created for Bennetts by Magic Online.

JMS recorded the event throughout its hectic three-day build schedule, and edited a full ‘making-of’ package for the traditional after-event charity fund-raising party and exhibitor awards. Shown on giant plasma screens, naturally!

Video on-line expansion

One our largest video and TV clients, Anglian Home Improvements, recently took its first steps into video on-line.

From many hours of pre-recorded Anglian programming in the JMS archive, we edited short, punchy extracts, then coded them, built flash players and now supply the finished programmes via 5 different streams to Anglian’s site.

Considerable expertise has been applied to in-page placement and a continuous review of effectiveness by web specialists Teleologic and Latitude, and their data, when combined with the streaming stats supplied by JMS, has enabled Anglian marketers to build up an hour by hour analysis of site effectiveness.

The sheer scale of the Anglian operation has been of huge value to all concerned. With tens of thousands of unique visits each month, the statistics have a critical mass that makes the analytics both invaluable and exciting.

The result? At the start of November JMS was asked to supply a further Flash Multi-player for the site, to simplify navigation and satisfy the truly huge demand for video. And right now more programmes are on the way.

Magic in the Kitchen

Sequin Art is an imaginative children’s hobby which provides the essential ingredients to create sparkly, magical pictures from scratch, one sequin at a time.

For this year's satellite TV campaign, the concepts we submitted to the agency, Media Managers, were set in either a child’s bedroom or a kitchen or a conservatory. But after a couple of weeks, our location research still hadn’t turned up quite what we wanted.

Ok, we said, we’ll build a room-set in our studio instead. But that also faltered, as everybody seemed to have a different idea about the design.

Eventually one of our team went to make a cuppa. “Hey!” came the voice from the staff kitchen, “why don’t we do the show right here !”And so it came to pass that the crew, clients and performers spent a day shoe-horned into our kitchen, leaving our staff cheerfully brewing-up and muncheing their sarnies in a hastily-converted office next door. We’re a flexible bunch at JMS!

The commercial also features music composed and recorded in-house and is currently airing on CITV, Nickelodeon, Pop Girl and Trouble in the run-up to Christmas.

The Looking-glass world of Stephen Fry

One of the highlights of the pantomime season is about to go digital! The ‘Mirror, Mirror on the wall’, into which Snow White’s nemesis gazes so raptly will this year be ... a ‘virtual’ mirror. And the face of the mirror for the new Theatre Royal Panto will be none other than – Stephen Fry!

Stephen’s become something of a ‘regular’ at JMS this year for a wide variety of work but this production really was out of the ordinary.

As a result of some expert lighting in our studio, and some clever post-production in our 3D graphics suite, Stephen will, throughout December and January, mysteriously appear in the mirror, hold a conversation with the performers on stage, and eventually break into splinters, courtesy of a 50 inch plasma screen disguised as a looking-glass.

Mission accomplished, Stephen was back in our studios again in no time at all, this time recording narration for part of his major new BBC series ‘Stephen Fry in America’.

JMS green screen is in fashion

Within hours of the final coat of paint drying on our new green infinity cove, production began on the latest TV offering from creative hot-house The Works for retail mecca Chapelfield.

The campaign concept was ‘Fashion for all’. The storyboard called for intercuts of dancers of varying ages in a variety of this season’s fashions dancing against a moving background of the letters 'Fashion' taken from the strapline.
