Super 11: The Ultimate Football Strategy Game

By | Children's Television, News | No Comments

JMS Group was recently approached by Premium World to produce a commercial for their football-themed board game, Super 11. We have a lot of experience in producing children’s TV commercials (Sequin Art, Rubie’s Fancy Dress, Rollers to name a few) so we came recommended by Guerillascope.

The game itself is a fun mixture of tactics, skill and luck. We were tasked to create a concept that would portray the quality of the product in an edgy, stylish manner, which would appeal to kids and adults alike.

The client chose our concept ‘In The Zone’ as it subverts the viewers expectations – instead of the players emerging onto a football pitch they enter into a domestic setting, bringing the energy of a real-life match into a home environment.

The changing room set and tunnel were both built entirely in our studio. A combination of quick cuts, macro shots and an emphasised use of sound effects make for an ‘Edgar Wright’ (Spaced, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) inspired intro to build the tension.

These commercials air on Friday 27th May on Discovery History, Cartoon Network, Disney XD and KIX.

“From the creative concept, through casting and developing the script, to shooting on the day, the whole process was seamless.”

Ice Cold In Thetford: Accord and JMS Create Magic for Rubie’s

Ice Cold In Thetford: Accord and JMS Create Magic for Rubie’s.

As if working in TV commercials production wasn’t magical enough – we recently dialed-up the fantasy still further with a tie-in to the massive global Disney success ‘Frozen’!

Our friends at Accord were masterminding a campaign for Rubies, the suppliers of magnificent replica costumes for children, in which they wanted 2 girls to picture themselves not only wearing the costumes, but entering their own imaginary version of Frozen!

Our pre-planning involved set design and build – bright positive colours and furnishings all geared to a pan-European market; sourcing child actors – two lookalikes for the main characters Anna and Elsa ( so 200 auditions later…); and finally a forest, blanketed in snow (in June).

The Elvedon Estate in Thetford provided the perfect forest, the genius set-dressers Snowboy made a sweltering June day look like winter in the Alps, and our two stars (Gabriella) and (Elizabeth) apart from looking so perfectly like their animated heroines, put in hours of work on camera without ever once losing their smiles!

Being vetted at every step by both Accord and Disney does crank-up the tension somewhat, so it was an immense joy when the production got two thumbs up! It felt like fantasy land. We even broke out the drinks. On ice, naturally.

German Kids’ TV Commercials – KSG Sequin Art

Norfolk toy manufacturer KSG produce new kids’ TV commercials with JMS Group, and extend their campaign into Europe with RTL Germany.

We’ve had the pleasure of working with KSG on their Sequin Art products for a number of years. During the summer period we are often busy with production of kids’ TV commercials airing during the key October half-term and Christmas sales periods.

KSG wanted to up their game for the most recent campaign, so we aimed high and brought to life the ‘Sparkling World of Sequin Art’ with 3D animation.  From a living room setting three girls and a mum are transported to a magical world where the Sequin Art creations come to life and interact with their makers!

Written and Directed by Luke Witcomb, the commercial consisted of a two day shoot with living room and green screen sets – both of which were built and filmed in JMS’ Norwich cove studio. In post-production Motion Graphics Artist Hugh South set to work bringing to life sequinned dolphins, leopards, butterflies, dinosaurs and even Paddington Bear. Despite the complexity the post-production had to be completed in less than three weeks as the German retailers needed their version (a 20-second cut) broadcast by mid September. Working in reverse JMS produced the cut-down first, with German end-frame and soundtrack, delivered in HD to Super RTL in Germany.

We then moved straight onto production of 6 sponsorship bumpers for Sequin Art’s sponsorship of CITV’s ‘Share A Story’ programme over October Half Term. Bumpers complete and delivered (along with Compliance and Hardings Tests) we then moved onto finishing the production of the UK 30 seconds TV commercial in time for broadcast October Half Term week on several channels including ITV and Nickelodeon.  And finally we were back doing a second retailer-tagged version for Germany and a pre-roll for Germany’s Disney Digital.

“We are absolutely delighted with the results of both TV commercials and the six sponsorship bumpers. You have really pulled out all the stops for us this time… they look great… I am so pleased in fact I am dead chuffed with them.”
