Halloween Radio Advertising | Ripley’s Believe It Or Not and Primevil Scare
JMS Group ‘Creep it Real’ on ‘The Scarewaves’ with a Halloween Radio Advertising Campaign for Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
Radio is the perfect medium for horror. While there are countless wonderfully blood-curdling horror films out there, there is no denying that the imagination can conjure up more fearsome monsters than a costume department ever could. With the careful use of sound effects, talented voice artists and a cracking script, Halloween radio advertising is able to set the scene and let the listener create their own, tailor-made, worst nightmare…
JMS Group has been busy producing Halloween Radio Advertising for two large tourist attractions: Ripley’s Believe it or Not in Piccadilly, London and Primevil in Norfolk. While Ripley’s is open all year round, Halloween and the half term surrounding it is a crucial time for visitors. Our brief was to put together an interest-piquing soundbite to educate listeners about the attraction generally, and to let them know about the spooky half term events. Primevil, on the other hand, is only open for a few weeks leading up to the Halloween weekend, so our mission was to spread the word quickly and efficiently, while giving the listeners a little taste of what’s to come.
The commercials illustrate two different sides to Halloween radio advertising: Ripley’s veers towards the comic and child-friendly, using a pun-laden, ‘mad-scientist’ style delivery, while Primevil firmly sets up camp on the deep-voiced, creepy, more adult side – fitting for an event which is only open to over-fourteens. This time of year gives our writers, producers and voice artists the opportunity to ‘go wild’ and have a good old mess around with special effects, reverb and creepy music, and boy have we ever!
